BIOTECanada
BIOTECanada is the national industry-funded association representing the broad spectrum of biotech constituents including emerging, established and related service companies in the health, agricultural, and industrial sectors.

2007 marked the 20th year of the national association dedicated to the promotion and awareness of biotechnology and its public policy issues. Incorporated in 1987 as the Industrial Biotechnology Association of Canada, the national association continues to serve as the voice for industry leadership to build a sustainable environment for Canada’s community of researchers and innovators.

Canadian Bioenergy Association
CANBIO is a national, industry-driven, non-profit organization of individuals, businesses and non-governmental organizations interested in the development, promotion and use of bioenergy.

Canadian Renewable Fuels Association
Founded in 1984, the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of renewable fuels for transportation through consumer awareness and government liaison activities. The CRFA membership is composed of representatives from all levels of the ethanol and biodiesel industry, including: grain and cellulose ethanol producers, biodiesel producers, fuel technology providers, and agricultural associations.

IEA Bioenergy
The International Energy Agency’s Implementing Agreement on Bioenergy oversees a substantial body of reserach and development pertaining to Bioenergy worldwide.  They do is sumarized in the series of Tasks they have identified and summarized on their website.

LifeSciences BC
LifeSciences British Columbia supports and represents the biotechnology, medical device, and greater life sciences community of British Columbia through leadership, advocacy and promotion of BC’s world-class science and industry. Via active facilitation of partnering and investment into the life sciences sector, British Columbia is fast becoming a global life sciences leader.

LifesSciences BC has established a BioProducts and BioEnergy Sector Advisory Committee to help create an exciting new team and a vibrant and sustainable sector that will be the envy of the world. They will build upon the direction and vision of the provincial government’s BC Energy Plan and BC Bioenergy Strategy to make this vision a reality. BioProducts and BioEnergy are sub-sectors within an emerging field of industrial biotechnology. The sectors provide familiar products that can be manufactured using biomass and/or novel processes to replace or complement conventional manufacturing that uses fossil fuels and petrochemicals. Biomass is any type of organic material that is available on a renewable or recurring basis. It may come in the form of raw material or primary crops, by-products left over from a variety of activities and industrial processes, and waste material.
